Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie
Thursday, April 19th, 2012Hello again. Remember me? I’m the girl that used to blog here :-p 久しぶり!Have I been missed? I hope so, because I truly miss you guys too. We won’t go into major details, we’ll just say that life was busy and I want my blog back!
Anyways, I want to start learning a lot more about ingredients that are in all my products, but mainly in hair. I also want to play around with different curl products and various things to restore my hair. What do I need to restore my hair from? Bleaching it. Yea, I’m stupid I know. I REALLY wanted to try purple hair tho. It’s actually still purply-reddish brown right now. I used RAW color, and it never truly hit the color I wanted it to be. What I’m at right now is close tho. I would post pictures, but it’s changing soon anyways. Hopefully this weekend. Then it will be RED and purple! ^_^ Anyways, I digress.
I was browsing the Walgreens by my new apartment (oh yea, I moved again. This time local tho.) For some reason I ended up in the “ethnic” (aka CRAP) aisle, and this product caught my eye. I don’t know why.
The ingredients really caught my eye, and made me think it was a sort of conditioner. I liked what I saw, especially for the price of $9.99! (12oz jar)
Contains: de-ionized water, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea butter)*, Macadamia Ternifolia seed oil, Mangifera Indica (mango) seed butter*, Persea Gratissima (avocado) oil, Cocos Nucifera (coconut) oil*, Aloe Barbadensis leaf extract, silk protein, Melia Azadirachta (Neem) seed oil, Daucus Carota Sativa (carrot) seed oil, Caprylyl glycol, Sorbitol Esters, essential oil blend, Lonicera Caprifolium (honeysuckle) flower and Lonicera Japonica (Japanese honeysuckle) flower extract and Tocopherol (vitamin E).
*Denotes certified organic ingredients.
The instructions tell you to apply to damp or styled hair to enhance curls, control frizz, and to provide curl control. Um, I don’t think so! I have fine but THICK hair that is only semi-healthy. I applied a tiny amount to a few curls to see the effect on styled hair. Yea no. It SMELLS heavy. It’s not an offensive smell, but it is a greasy floral type of smell. Also, your hair has got to be brillo-pad dry to actually be able to wear this on dry hair and not attract dirt or weigh it down.
That makes perfect sense. After all, the ingredients are mainly oils. GOOD oils, but oils none the less. I can’t imagine using this on my head and actually leaving the house. I imagine that it would also be very skin-clogging if it happened to get onto your face (like if you wear your hair down a lot.) It also contains silk proteins, which can be bad if you use it too much for the condition of your hair. I’ll try it alone as a mask, and I’ll try it in combination with my Enjoy Mask (omg LOVE). Let me know if you want me to post my after-thoughts on this product!
Enter: Beauty From The Earth
Wednesday, May 11th, 2011A few weeks back I was given the opportunity to review some products from Beauty From The Earth. I was quite glad for the opportunity to do so, as I have hemmed and hawed over their website for a very long time. They have some very beautiful pigments to offer and a lot of well known bloggers love their product. What stopped me from actually placing an order with them was the fact that they do sell a fair amount of (clearly marked) unblended pigments. I often forget to check for little details like that, so I never actually got around to ordering from them. If you are on the fence about ordering from them definitely try some samples. It’s worth it. Read on!
Enter: Candy’s Sweet Treats
Wednesday, March 30th, 2011Before I get this review started, I owe an apology to the owner of Candy’s Sweet Treats. This review has been a loooong time in the coming. Candy actually sent these to me about a month and a half before I moved back to the states. Between everything that has happened between now and then, I just haven’t had the time or energy to crank out blog posts like I should. Now that things are slowly starting to settle down more, I have been accepting more review requests, and getting back into the blogosphere again. I definitely missed being into the full swing of things! Candy, I apologize to you for taking so long >_<
Anyways, onto the review. Below is a picture of all of the product she sent me. It does not include a sample of “OMFG The best primer ever” that she sent me afterwards. I am not sure what her standards are for samples, as she sent me a very assorted variety of jars and clamshells. (Side note, I HATE clamshells. I’m just too clumsy for them.)

OHWTO: Black Magic
Saturday, November 20th, 2010I’m sorry. I’m really really sorry. I know my posting schedule is horrible. You won’t believe what happened to me. …………..I broke my Macbook :( The poor baby wasn’t even 4 months old, and I hurt her. I hadn’t even named her yet. I always take her to work with me, and immediately set her up. Well, on this particular day, I was dead-dog-tired. I opened up an energy drink, and set it down next to the laptop. About 5 minutes later I reached for something, and tipped my still untouched drink over. JUST enough to spill the TINIEST about of liquid ever onto exactly the right spot to damage my laptop. It flickered and shut itself off. Me, in my infinite wisdom, turned it back on after a few minutes of freaking. I probably shorted it. STUPID STUPID STUPID!!! My only saving grace is that my husband insisted on purchasing the after-market warranty. Liquid damage IS covered, it’s just a matter of how they want to take care of it. I think what is going to end up happening is that we will send them the damaged laptop (poor girl), and they will give us the money to buy a new macbook. While I don’t want to lose my laptop w/ all my stuff on it, at least I’m getting her replaced. What really really sucks even more is that I had been procrastinating on backing up everything on my hard drive. :( Oh well, we’re going to try to hook it up to the desktop and transfer my files that way. In the mean time, I can’t work on too many of my backlogged posts. I still have the image files for the half-finished ones on their memory cards, but the finished versions reside on my laptop. If it takes too long (or God forbid, something else happens), I will have to start from square 1 again with those posts. In the mean time, I will work on some of the ideas I’ve been keeping stored in my head.
To the meat of this post. I know I have not done an official review of “1 Hand Washes The Other” yet, but I just HAD to tell you about this absolutely wonderful product. Okay I lied. pause for a second. Does the phrase “1 hand washes the other” remind you of Silence of the Lambs? “It puts the lotion on it’s skin. IT PUTS THE LOTION ON IT’S F*CKING SKIN!” ……I’m just saying! Lol okay anyways. 1 Hand Washes The Other (hereby referred to as “OHWTO”) sells this awesome soap called “Black Magic soap bar”. Some of you might know it’s name as “Deep Black” bar. Well, when Becca (the owner) opened up a shop on Artfire (which she prefers, btw), she changed the name of it. ”Deep Black” just sounded NSFW. Personally, it just always made me giggle ^_~
