A Nicki Minaj inspired look

Monday, November 29th, 2010

“How is this a Nicki Minaj look”, you ask?  Well the heavy freakin’ lashes, for one.  It’s mostly for the pink lipstick though.  I wanted to make myself rock a lighter pink lipstick.  I mean if she can get away with it and still look good, why can’t I?  We’re somewhere around the same color.  Those lashes though…..man those were HEAVY!  I took my pictures right after I put them on (hence a lil’ bit of still-wet glue that you see), and I had such a hard time catching my eyes open it was ridiculous.  I probably just looked high for the first hour I was getting used to them though, lol.  Strangely though, guys kept trying to talk to me this night.  (Oh yea, I wore this for a girl’s night out).  I thought they don’t like girls w/ a lot of makeup?  Oh well, lol.  I really felt like I was drawing a lot of attention to myself though, with the size of the lashes.  Okay, enough with the lashes.   On to the look for that night.  (Oh by the way, I used the Naked Palette for all of this.)

My Moonagedaydream comes with a Parental Advisory

I’ve been noticing lately that I ALWAYS reach for my Fyrinnae pigments.  Don’t get me wrong, I love my Fyrinnae.  However, a LOT of my stash was going untouched.  Part of this is because all of my loose shadows are stored in two different places, which makes it harder to remember to use them.  This will be fixed when I move back to the states anyways, so I’m not too worried about it right now.  However I am going to keep trying to mix up the brands that I am using right now.  This look contains a plethora of companies, and I REALLY liked this look.  I love how the lid and the crease have a gradient that match each other.  It was actually a little unintentional, lol.

My Tropical Acidic Reign

Saturday, November 27th, 2010

I have a different sort of look for you guys today.  I wish to God that the camera had actually caught how vibrant these colors are.  This just looked so amazing in person, and I received a lot of compliments on this day (even though my hair was looking weird, lol.)  Speaking of my hair….I’m thinking of a change.  I’m a little tired of Fuschia Shock being in my hair.  I personally think the color is still quite nice.   However, you can’t tell how pink it is anymore.  A lot of people actually mistake my hair for being red now.  While I like red hair and have worn it before, thats not want I want in my life right now.  I want unnatural colors (although I suppose this particular shade of red is unnatural as well?  lol).  I have some ideas floating around in my head, but I want to hear what you guys think.  Any suggestions on what I should do to my hair next?  I think I’m open to pretty much everything.

Before I get to listing the products, I wanted to do a little shout out.  Natsumi, in retrospect I think this look would work well for you as an all-over green look.  I haven’t actually done the all-green look you requested yet, but it occurred to me that this would work as well.  Also, I still need to post your “hint-of-green” request look. -__-

Just call me a copy-cat

Saturday, November 27th, 2010

This post is looooong overdue.  A while back now, “The Chemist” (for those of you that don’t know, the actual chemist for Fyrinnae), tweeted a link to a blog, talking about how awesome this guy was.  Well let me tell you, he was right.  The link was to Cosmetic Viking.  He posts the most beautiful looks, and has become a real inspiration to me.  All the looks that he does seem to work really well for me.  I saw this look, and just HAD to copy it.   I could’ve blended the inner eyes a little more, and this really needed lashes, but I’m still very happy with the results.  (Oh, and subscribe to his blog!!!  He really is so amazing, and so sweet <3)

FOTD: Show out Weds – Barbie

Thursday, November 25th, 2010

So me and a few local makeup lovers rendezvous every week at our Starbucks to shoot the breeze.  We decided to make our meetings a little more fun, and make our meetings themed.  This particular week, we did Barbie.  I decided to do the actual “Barbie loves Mac” look as best as I could remember.  Also, I finally mastered putting on falsies well enough to wear them out the house!!  I’m by no means a pro, but I’m comfortable enough to wear them out in public now.  I try to integrate them into my daily life more now, but my husband just doesn’t understand why I need to wear them.  Okay….I don’t TECHNICALLY need to wear them, but I think it really finishes a look.  Plus, they’re just fun!  Anyways, here’s my look :)

Swatches: Fyrinnae Arcane Magics-Pt. 2

Monday, November 22nd, 2010

Jumping back into my “Swatch Fyrinnae” project, here is the next set of Arcane Magics that I have for you.  I know there’s only 3 here, but I was trying to keep them within their color families.  I tried the best I could to capture their shifts, but it wasn’t happening very well.  To be fair, some of these (like Avian Shapeshifter) don’t have as strong of a shift as say, Glitterboi.  They are beautiful nonetheless.  I hope you enjoy :)

OHWTO: Black Magic

Saturday, November 20th, 2010

I’m sorry.  I’m really really sorry.  I know my posting schedule is horrible.  You won’t believe what happened to me. …………..I broke my Macbook :(  The poor baby wasn’t even 4 months old, and I hurt her.   I hadn’t even named her yet.  I always take her to work with me, and immediately set her up.  Well, on this particular day, I was dead-dog-tired.  I opened up an energy drink, and set it down next to the laptop.  About 5 minutes later I reached for something, and tipped my still untouched drink over.  JUST enough to spill  the TINIEST about of liquid ever onto exactly the right spot to damage my laptop.  It flickered and shut itself off.  Me, in my infinite wisdom, turned it back on after a few minutes of freaking.  I probably shorted it.  STUPID STUPID STUPID!!!  My only saving grace is that my husband insisted on purchasing the after-market warranty.  Liquid damage IS covered, it’s just a matter of how they want to take care of it.  I think what is going to end up happening is that we will send them the damaged laptop (poor girl), and they will give us the money to buy a new macbook.  While I don’t want to lose my laptop w/ all my stuff on it, at least I’m getting her replaced.   What really really sucks even more is that I had been procrastinating on backing up everything on my hard drive.  :(  Oh well, we’re going to try to hook it up to the desktop and transfer my files that way.  In the mean time, I can’t work on too many of my backlogged posts.  I still have the image files for the half-finished ones on their memory cards, but the finished versions reside on my laptop.  If it takes too long (or God forbid, something else happens), I will have to start from square 1 again with those posts.  In the mean time, I will work on some of the ideas I’ve been keeping stored in my head.

To the meat of this post.  I know I have not done an official review of “1 Hand Washes The Other” yet, but I just HAD to tell you about this absolutely wonderful product.  Okay I lied. pause for a second.  Does the phrase “1 hand washes the other” remind you of Silence of the Lambs?  “It puts the lotion on it’s skin.  IT PUTS THE LOTION ON IT’S F*CKING SKIN!” ……I’m just saying!  Lol okay anyways.    1 Hand Washes The Other (hereby referred to as “OHWTO”) sells this awesome soap called “Black Magic soap bar”.  Some of you might know it’s name as “Deep Black” bar.  Well, when Becca (the owner) opened up a shop on Artfire (which she prefers, btw), she changed the name of it.  ”Deep Black” just sounded NSFW.  Personally, it just always made me giggle ^_~

Fyrinnae shipping changes

Saturday, November 13th, 2010

Hey guys, just a little quick update for you. I thought I would post this, to help spread the word. The rumored changes in shipping are true, and are now in effect. Before, all orders $20+ had free shipping (not sure about international rates). Well USPS keeps upping their rates, and Fyrinnae’s customer base is growing bigger and bigger. That being said, offering so much free shipping was really starting to become counter-productive. Here is the new breakdown for shipping rates. Trust me, it is still EXTREMELY reasonable.

All orders $40 and up ship FREE.

Small orders have low rates:
Shipping cost for US orders under $40 is from $1.75 to $3.00 (First class).

Shipping cost for orders under $40 to Canada is from $2.25 to $3.25.

Shipping cost for orders under $40 to all other worldwide destinations is from $2.75 to $4.00.

Basically, you will not pay more than $3 for domestic shipping, and no more than $4 for international. To me, that is extremely reasonable.

Before you bitch about that, let me remind you that MANY of you people tried to partake in Sleek’s 50% sale. THEIR int’l shipping is $13FUCKING50. I don’t think so.

Count your blessings :)
